At High Desert Medical College, our Medical Administrative Assistant program is designed to prepare students to work in the essential field of administrative healthcare. Medical Administrative Assistants are important support team members, responsible for completing administrative tasks in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and other health practitioners. This 15-week program provides students with intensive training to learn the skills to complete the tasks required of Medical Administrative Assistants. Students in the Medical Administrative Assistant learn: Greeting patients and answering telephone calls, Scheduling appointments, Verifying patient information and health insurance, Updating and filing patients’ medical records, Preparing and processing insurance claims, Administering the day-to-day functions of a medical office. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Administrative Assistant diploma.

The field of pharmacy technician training involves learning how to assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and interacting with customers. Students will acquire knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and drug interactions, preparing them for entry-level positions in various healthcare settings. The curriculum covers topics such as pharmacy law and ethics, medication safety, and regulatory guidelines to ensure safe and effective patient care. Hands-on experience in compounding medications, processing prescriptions, and utilizing pharmacy software systems will be provided to develop practical skills in a real-world pharmacy setting. Additionally, students will learn about the importance of communication, professionalism, and maintaining patient confidentiality in the healthcare industry, setting a foundation for a successful career as a pharmacy technician.
