The criminal justice program at GBC offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the American criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the AAS in Criminal Justice degree program, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Understanding of Criminal Justice System: Demonstrate awareness of the history and nature of the major components of the criminal justice system.
  • Analysis of Criminal Behavior: Identify and analyze the origins of criminal behavior, society’s response to crime, and the consequences of crime using multiple perspectives.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills applicable in the field of criminal justice.
  • Criminal Investigation Process: Describe the process of conducting criminal investigations, arrest and pretrial detention procedures, criminal trial procedures, and criminal punishment.
  • Community Policing: Analyze the relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
  • Understanding of Police Organization: Describe the organizational structure, practice, culture, and environment of modern police organizations.
  • Understanding of the Correctional System: Analyze the evolution of the U.S. correctional system.
  • Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation: Evaluate current issues related to crime prevention and the rehabilitation of juvenile and adult offenders, including parole and probation concepts.

Practitioner Instructors:
