The EPiC Consortium Surgical Technology Program hosted by Muskegon Community College on behalf of the partner colleges, is an Associate Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences program and has applied for new program initial accreditation. This program includes courses that lead to a Sterile Processing Certificate. The curriculum includes science courses selected to provide a basis for the clinical and theory application of principles used in Surgical Technology. Basic courses in the theoretical aspects of Surgical Technology include lecture, clinical, and on-line instruction. All Surgical Technology courses must be passed with a minimum grade of C (75%). The goal of the program is to prepare entry-level surgical technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

Throughout the program, students are provided with hands-on experience in cooperation with various hospitals under the direction of the Program Director/Instructor.

Graduate with a Corrections Certificate and you will have a marketable advantage when you apply for adult corrections officer positions in Michigan prisons. The Michigan Department of Corrections gives hiring preference to job candidates who have completed a degree or certificate in Corrections.

The five courses in the GRCC Corrections Certificate have been approved by the Michigan Department of Corrections and will serve as the minimum requirements that will allow you to apply for an entry level position as a Corrections Officer. This certificate will also enhance your skills if you are currently employed in a correctional setting.

The Correctional Officer Training Act requires that specific college courses (with a grade of C or higher) and academy training are necessary in order to certify individuals as correctional officers. Discuss your career goals with our GRCC Corrections Training Coordinator before enrolling. 

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) license program at Grand Rapids Community College - Main Campus provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a licensed practical nurse. The program is designed to prepare students for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) and entry-level employment opportunities in a variety of healthcare facilities. Students will learn about nursing theory, pharmacology, patient care, and clinical skills through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training in real-world healthcare settings.

RadTechs continue to be in high demand! When you graduate with your Radiologic Technology Associate Degree, and successfully complete the registry examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), you will qualify for entry level positions in hospitals, clinics and private offices.

This two-year program requires attendance for six semesters including two summer sessions. The practical experiences you will have in off-site clinic will heighten your awareness of patient communication practices and acquaint you with all phases of radiologic technology practice, which often varies from hospital to hospital. The personal contacts you develop will often help you in your job search after graduation. 

The Medical Assistant certification program at Grand Rapids Community College - Main Campus equips students with essential skills and knowledge required to enter the healthcare industry as a competent medical assistant. The program includes courses in medical terminology, electronic health records, pharmacology, and hands-on clinical training, ensuring students are well-prepared to provide quality patient care. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and start their careers in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices.

The Dental Assistant certification program at Grand Rapids Community College - Main Campus is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful dental assistant. The program consists of classroom lectures, laboratory activities, and clinical experiences that cover all aspects of dental assisting, including patient care, infection control, radiography, and dental materials. Graduates of the program are well-prepared for the national certification exam and are ready to begin a rewarding career in dental assisting.

Those already working as licensed practical nurses may qualify for advanced standing.Upon graduation, you will be qualified to sit for the state licensure exam called NCLEX-RN.

The Phlebotomy certification program at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) - Main Campus is a comprehensive course designed to train aspiring phlebotomists in essential skills and techniques needed for their career. Offered at the renowned GRCC, this program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice to provide students with a strong foundation in phlebotomy, while preparing them for professional certification. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy Technician certification exam, opening doors for successful entry into the healthcare industry as phlebotomists.
