About

Medical Administrative Assistants are key members of the healthcare team. In general, they are the patients’ first contact upon entering the medical office or clinic, and they play a valuable role in providing a positive experience for the patient. The duties of the Medical Administrative Assistant include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, entering demographic and insurance information into the practices’ electronic health records software, answering phones, assigning medical codes, processing insurance, and patient check-in and check-out.

This fully online program is taught by a live-instructor, in real-time, in a virtual classroom using Zoom technology. Class time is engaging, and students are given opportunities to interact with their instructor and fellow students.

Topics covered include medical terminology, electronic health records, compliance, law and ethics, office policies and procedures, insurance and medical billing, scheduling, patient intake and checkout, communication, and patient education.

National certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association and exam preparation materials are included with the program.
