Forest Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
For those living with a chronic condition that requires continuous medical monitoring and care, we provide a residential setting in which to continue leading a life of purpose and enjoyment. Our full range of activities and amenities create an environment where residents can continue to learn, socialize and explore in a setting that emphasizes style and comfort. Our team works with each individual and their physician(s) to develop a comprehensive plan of care, which may include medical treatment, medications, rehabilitation, and restorative services. Our goal is to work with you and your physician during your stay to adapt your plan of care to respond to changes in your health needs.
Those living with memory loss require specialized care and attention. Our facility offers a safe environment for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. We help our residents remain engaged in life though a variety of activities designed to stimulate their minds, exercise their bodies and nurture their spirits. We tailor these activities to each individual’s interests and abilities to promote independence and dignity for each resident. Family members are a critical part of the Memory Care resident’s care team. They can provide insights into a resident’s history, including their achievements and accomplishments, hobbies and interests, and passions and desires. This allows our staff to bond with each resident and provide care that is targeted to their specific life story. We offer an enhanced quality of life by utilizing an exit prevention system. This unobtrusive transmitter system allows the resident the freedom to move about the facility freely while preventing unassisted exit.
As hospital stays grow shorter, rehabilitation facilities are becoming an integral part of a person’s spectrum of care needs. Forest Manor works closely with many local healthcare facilities, such as St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Post Acute Medical, AMG Rehab, Lakeview Behavioral Health, and Beacon Behavioral Health to make the transition from hospital to rehabilitation as seamless as possible. For those who have had orthopedic surgery or a medical event such as a heart attack or stroke, rehabilitative therapies can help improve your ability to function, ease pain, and create the foundation for better health. Our goal is to get you to a place where you are able to return home as quickly and as confidently as possible. The rehabilitation modalities we offer are as follows: Physical therapy uses body manipulation and physical movements to help ease pain and increase mobility, strength, endurance, balance and range of motion. We develop individual therapy plans that respect each patient’s unique challenges. The focus of occupational therapy is to help patients with the activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, grooming, cooking, and eating. The goal is to help patients regain independence, so they can return home. Speech therapy is used to help people improve their verbal communications skills, teach them new ways of communicating, and help with difficulties in swallowing. The ultimate goal is to help patients communicate more effectively and eat and drink safely.
