Allied Health Management – Bachelor’s Degree

The Bachelor’s Degree program in Allied Health Management is comprised of a combination of courses, providing skills such as managing the administrative area within a health services organization, medical law/regulations and current procedural coding with health information resources. The program is designed to prepare a student for a career as an administrator in the health services field.

When graduates from this program have work experience in the medical field, upon completion of this program they can apply for healthcare management. The duration of the program is 27 months and a total of 187.5/188 credits are needed in order to qualify for graduation. Depending on graduates concentration track, they will be eligible to sit for one of the following exams through the American Academy of Professional Coders™ (AAPC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam, Certified Physician Practice Manager (CPPM®) exam or Licensure of Basic Machine Operator through the Florida Department of Health.

Admission Requirements

• A student must first successfully graduate from an Allied Health (Medical Assistant Technician, Billing and Coding, or other) diploma or degree program, from either NUC-FTC or another accredited institution, as a prerequisite for enrolling into the Allied Health Management Bachelor program. External transcripts must be evaluated by Academic Affairs to determine transfer of credits accepted into the program.

The Business Office Specialist diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to perform various business operational functions using computer equipment and software to manage technical, and administrative tasks in multiple office environments. Students will develop customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills to function appropriately in an office environment. Students are eligible for certification in: Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The duration of the program is 9 months and 40.5 quarter credits. The employment opportunities are Office Clerks, Executive Assistant, Data Entry Clerk, and Administrative/Office Assistant.

Computer Support Technician – Diploma

The Computer Support Technician Diploma program prepares students to demonstrate proficiency in providing technical support and assisting users in troubleshooting, performing technical and system diagnostics, and making the necessary repairs. Students will examine computer concepts, information systems, networking, operating systems, computer hardware, software applications and the Internet. They will analyze the principles of customer service and the importance of problem solving and help desk supportive service. Students will develop the skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position in the field and prepare them to challenge the CompTIA A+ certification.

The duration of the program is 9 months and 40.5 quarter credits are required. The contact hours are divided into 288 lecture hours, and 288 lab hours. Employment opportunities: Help Desk Technician, Customer Service Specialists, and Computer User Support Specialists.

Medical Assistant Technician - Diploma

The Medical Assistant Technician Diploma Program is designed to prepare students in obtaining entry-level employment as a medical assistant technician. This program offers students the opportunity to learn the necessary knowledge and skills both in the classroom and in a supervised clinical practice or capstone. The students learn how to prepare patients for various technical examinations such as EKGs and phlebotomy, as well as how to perform several such procedures. Students are eligible for certification in: National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certification, First Aid Certification, and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.

A total of 720/760 contact hours is required and divided into 220 lecture hours, 420/500 lab hours, 120 externship hours, and 47 quarter credits. Employment opportunities Clinical Assistant, Lab Technician, Optometric Assistant, and Registered Medical Assistant.

Medical Assistant Technician with Emphasis in Basic X-Ray – Diploma

The Medical Assistant Technician with Emphasis in Basic X-Ray Diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and skills to perform medical assistant with basic x-ray responsibilities. The student will acquire the necessary skills, to perform under the supervision of a physician, to provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic, and basic x-ray procedures. Students will be able to prepare the patient for various examinations, including basic x-rays, electrocardiograms, and phlebotomy. Graduates will be eligible for Basic Machine Operator licensure.

A total of 960/1,000 contact hours is requires and divided into 300 lecture hours, 580/660 lab hours, 120 externship hours, and 63 quarter credits.  Employment opportunities are Basic Machine Operator Medical Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Radiation Technician Assistant, and Registered Medical Assistant.

Information Technology

Information Technology With Emphasis in Cybersecurity – Bachelor’s Degree

The Bachelor’s Degree program in Information Technology with Emphasis in Cybersecurity introduces students to a variety of topics, such as assessing the security vulnerability of computer and network systems, various computer and network safeguarding solutions, and managing the implementation and maintenance of security devices, systems, procedures and counter measures. As a graduate of the program, students will be prepared for a career as a developer of security design, information assurance, computer forensic investigator, ethical hacker, and/or any digital security related jobs. Students are eligible to sit for exams for:

CompTIA A+ , CompTIA Network + , and CompTIA Security +.

The duration of the program is 36 months and 181.5 quarter credits are required. The credits are divided into 75 credits lower level courses, 48 credits upper level courses, 54 credits for general education courses, and 4.5 credits for elective course.

In our electrical, welding, HVAC/R with PLC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration with PLC diploma) programs, you will learn the skills necessary to safely and accurately diagnose situations, compute the necessary calculations, and learn the skills needed for employment.

HVAC/R with PLC - Diploma

The HVAC/R with PLC Diploma Program offers students the technical and practical knowledge and skills to perform heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance, assist with installations, and repairs.

Students will also learn basic skills related to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions at construction firms, as well as residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning companies.

Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10 Safety. A total of 920 contact hours is required and divided into 500 lecture hours and 420 lab hours. Employment opportunities include HVAC Mechanic, A/C Tech, Installer Assistant, HVAC Service Technician, Systems Maintenance Mechanic.

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Diploma Program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to develop efficient and safety-minded technicians that may be able to fill an entry level position in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field. In addition, they will acquire the necessary skills, to perform installation tasks, service and repairs in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. This program is designed to prepare graduates to take the certifications from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10 Safety. A total of 960 contact hours is required and divided into 520 lecture hours and 440 lab hours. The program consists of 74 quarter credits.  Employment opportunities include HVAC Repair Specialist, HVAC Assistant Installer, and HVAC Technician Apprentice.
