About

This blended course prepares students for the certification exam and subsequent employment as Nursing Assistants in long-term care facilities, clinics, home care and hospitals. Students learn to identify and meet basic patient care needs for safety, vital signs, comfort, and activities of daily living. The program includes 40 hours of classroom/lab instruction. Students must attend all required hours. Students must successfully complete both the classroom and lab portions of the class in order to be eligible to take the certification examination. Graduates must pass the certification examination to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA) to practice in the State of Florida. The State of Florida requires that a nursing assistant must have a standard high school diploma or GED, be 18 years old and pass a state and national background check. Students will have to provide proof of high school diploma or GED, date of birth, and certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) and First Aid prior to the first day of class. Taught by a credentialed nurse instructor with professional experience, our Nurse Assistant Training program delivers an engaging curriculum that meets state and federal education regulations. The course content focuses on critical thinking, decision-making and team concepts while incorporating elements of care and communication/interpersonal skills. Students can generally expect to complete their training and be ready to take their state certification exam to become a licensed or certified nurse assistant (CNA) within 2 to 4 weeks after course completion.
