About

If you aspire for a billing and coding career in health care and insurance settings, or if you are currently employed in health care and seeking additional training, pursuing a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Certificate might be for you. In this field, you will review and interpret health records and maintain close communication with healthcare providers, supporting efficient documentation and revenue cycles. Medical coders review health records and assign codes for diagnoses, services, tests, and procedures. Medical billers prepare and process the medical billing and coding data, including charge entry, claims processing, payment posting, patient billing, and insurance and patient follow-up. You are an ideal candidate if you excel in analytical thinking, detail management, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication.

Program graduates are eligible to take CPC® and CCS-P® national coding certification exams with the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
