Certified Nurse Aide to Certified Home Health Aide Conversion

Online

Once you are a Certified Nurse Aide and want to become a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA), you can take a Conversion Class for 10 hours to get your CHHA License. You will receive instruction regarding their duties and roles in a transition from facilities to homes. You will get additional training about protocols to be implemented in the home-care setting. Certified EKG Technician

This course introduces students to patient preparation, EKG machines, performing and mounting of 12 lead, single channel EKG tracings. Review of the cardiovascular system and related terminology. Emphasis on basic rhythm identification and possible diseases are studied. This class brings together anatomy and physiology of the cardiac system with how it pertains to the electrocardiograph procedure. The student will learn to successfully perform and mount an EKG. The recognition of abnormal EKG's and classification of heart diseases will also apply. Students are required to complete 100 hours of internship/externship, after which they will receive their certificate of completion. Once the student successfully completes the program he/she will be eligible to sit for the NHA competency test for EKG technician and be certified in CPR as a healthcare provider.

Certified Phlebotomy Technician

This is one health occupation in which there is extensive contact with patients. Job prospects can be very good, particularly in offices of physicians and blood banks. The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to maintain patients blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection. This course provides phlebotomy instruction to the student resulting in a working knowledge of collecting blood. It emphasizes patient safety, quality assurance, and teaches universal and standard precautions. After completion of this course the student will be eligible to sit for the NHA certification exam, "Certified Phlebotomy Technician, CPT".
