The CHCI Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) program is designed to teach students the basic nursing skills to perform clinical routines that are necessary to sit for the State of Connecticut CNA certification exam. Learn About: Patient care, Mental health and social service needs, Care of cognitively impaired residents, Basic restorative services, Resident’s rights, Basic medical terminology, Safety and emergency procedures, Communication and interpersonal skills, Infection control. Get Hands-On Training: Taking and recording vital signs, Measuring and recording height and weight, Bathing, grooming, and dressing, Toileting and transferring, Assisting with eating and hydration, Using assistive devices and range of motion. The CNA program requires 70 hours of classroom time and 30 hours at the long-term facility. You will have an opportunity to use your knowledge and skill in an active healthcare facility as required by the State of Connecticut prior to taking your CNA certification exam. Upon completion, you will be prepared for employment in a nursing home, long-term care facility, hospital, home health aide agency, sub-acute rehabilitation, hospice, and other healthcare facilities.
