CCAC Phlebotomist Diploma Program

Program Details:

• Cost: Approximately $2,290 to $2,315 (Allegheny County residents), including tuition, health careers course fee, and estimated lab fees.
• Duration: 12-credit diploma program, typically lasting 16 weeks, including a supervised, non-paid 160-hour practicum.
• Schedule: Hybrid modality, combining in-person supervised practicum experience with some coursework that may be available online or in-person.
• Prerequisites: High school diploma or Pennsylvania GED certificate, or at least 18 years old with equivalent experience. Separate program application required. Enrollment limited by clinical site availability. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA in all program courses.
• Accreditations: Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Prepares students for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification recognized by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
• Career Outcomes: Prepares students for entry-level roles in hospitals, blood drawing stations, physicians' offices, and research settings.

Students applying for the LPN-RN transition program must have a current, valid LPN license from the state of Pennsylvania at the time of application.

English, mathematics, science and social science electives must be completed with a C grade or better prior to admission to the nursing program.  All science and developmental courses must have been completed with a grade of C or better by the third attempt.  Attempts include withdrawals and incompletes.

Students must complete 68 credits, not including prerequisites, with at least 30 credits being completed in CCAC classes.

The student may transfer all non-nursing requirements taken through the three nursing semesters (total of 29 credits).  Students will still need to take at least one (1) additional credit at CCAC to have the required 30 CCAC credits.

Credits from other colleges and universities can be evaluated when those official transcripts are received in the Registration and Advisement Office, but may not be posted until the student has successfully completed his/her first term in the program. 

Students must have a grade point average of 2.8 or greater from college transcripts.

This program provides the student an opportunity to learn the concepts and practices of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment along with the electrical knowledge required to work in this fast-growing industry.

EPA certification exams are administered during the program to allow the student to purchase and safely handle refrigerants. Proper workplace communications and customer relations will be discussed. In addition, the student will receive electrical training in basic circuitry, electrical safety and basic motor controls. 

This program addresses individuals, including college graduates from other fields or already working in a different area of Information Technology (IT), who are interested in a career involving cybersecurity technical support of a computer network and its data.

This program provides students with specific technical competencies for entry-level employment opportunities as a network cybersecurity support specialist. Diagnostic ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to image various organs and structures within the body. The diagnostic medical sonographer is qualified by academic and clinical training to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound under the supervision of a qualified doctor of medicine or osteopathy. The ultrasound profession is subdivided into nine specialties. The specialties offered at CCAC are General Ultrasound, Cardiac Ultrasound and Vascular Ultrasound. Students will select one specialty field of study in which to major.

This program is designed to prepare entry-level skills for students seeking practice as licensed massage therapists. Graduates complete a course of study that meets or exceeds 600 clock hours of curriculum content. Completion of the program qualifies graduates to apply for a license as a massage therapist in Pennsylvania. Students with previous coursework in healthcare and sciences have the option to complete the certificate in accelerated format by demonstrating proficiency in prior coursework.
