Welding students will advance and adapt their skills in the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes to pipe welding. The student will learn the techniques required of a certified pipe welder. Through lab instruction, training emphasis is placed on proper tacks and feather edging, filler metal angles and manipulations for open root pipe welding are taught. Class will consist of welding on carbon steel pipe with the GMAW-SC and FCAW processes. Training will be with ER70S solid wire short circuit transfer GMAW down bead root with E71T-1 flux cored wire hot and fill passes, upward progression. Practice is geared toward certification to ASME IX, Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code in the 6G position on carbon steel. Certification tests will also be administered within this course. Passing the certification test provides an all position ASME welder certification.

Students develop skill in accurate interpretation of patient diagnosis and treatment descriptions; the ICD, CPT and HCPCS Level II coding systems; billing and reimbursement; and health information documentation. Graduates may be employed by hospitals, physicians' offices, group practices, multi-specialty clinics, or specialty centers. Graduates are eligible to take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) examination sponsored by the American Health Information Management Association.

This certificate program prepares pharmacy technicians to work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.  Pharmacy technicians work in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, home healthcare pharmacies, nursing home pharmacies, clinic pharmacies, nuclear medicine pharmacies, and in mail order prescription pharmacies, and other practice settings.

The CSM pharmacy technician program is currently in candidacy for accreditation through ASHP/ACPE.  This meets the Maryland Board of Pharmacy for requirement that all pharmacy technicians in the state of Maryland complete an approved educational program and pass a national certification exam prior to applying for a license. 

Graduates are eligible to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE) or the Examination for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).

The Veterinary Assistant program gets students into the field quickly. This certificate will afford students ‘better than a foot in the door' opportunities at vet clinics, animal sanctuaries, etc.

Veterinary Assistants feed, water, disinfect cages and work areas, sterilize laboratory and surgical equipment, provide routine post-operative care, and administer medication orally or topically as directed. Veterinary Technicians have knowledge of the medical equipment (such as x-ray machines, heart machines, etc.), administer inoculations, prepare and restrain animals during procedures, suture and dress wounds, and advise pet owners on proper care. Veterinarians perform medical tests in a laboratory environment for use in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases in animals. Besides preparing serums for prevention of diseases, a veterinarian assistant prepares tissue samples, takes blood samples, and executes laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood counts.

The Respiratory Therapy, AAS program is offered through a partnership with Prince George's Community College (PGCC). This is a competitive admission program, with 25% of total program spots held for CSM students.

Students accepted to the program complete their general education courses and foundational health sciences coursework through CSM, with occupation-specific classes offered through PGCC.
