This 77-credit hour Associate in Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology at CF provides a quality comprehensive, competency-based education to prepare graduates for immediate employment in the profession of medical imaging as an entry-level sonographer. Graduates can be employed in hospitals, medical centers, clinics, outpatient centers and OB/GYN offices.

The program utilizes the cohort education model. Students in a cohort will advance through the Sonography curriculum at the same pace and learn the content at the same time. The Class B program consists of 40 hours over 1 week of training, also with a day schedule and testing that Saturday. A Class B commercial driver’s license is required to operate a single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or heavier, such as a garbage truck, dump truck, etc. No Trailer, including a towed vehicle that is lighter than 10,000 lbs.

This CDL course meets State and Federal curriculum requirements and includes two attempts at the Commercial Driver’s License Test.

Surgical Services, A.S

Surgical Services students are provided a curriculum that combines a heavy focus on human anatomy and disease, microbiology, surgical procedures, surgical tools and technologies to enable them to graduate with entry-level knowledge and competencies. More than 600 hours of guided clinical practice are provided in a variety of surgical settings including inpatient and outpatient surgical and obstetrical units. Students gain experience and have exposure to the latest cutting-edge surgical technologies.

Graduates are administered the National Certification Exam given by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Students will complete thirty (30) cases in General Surgery, with twenty (20) of those cases in the first scrub role. Students will also complete ninety (90) cases in various surgical specialties, with sixty (60) of those cases in the first scrub role, and evenly, but not necessarily equally distributed between a minimum of four (4) surgical specialties.
