The Phlebotomy Technician is relied on to collect quality specimens from the patients to produce quality laboratory results. This program is designed to provide the students with an overall understanding of the theory of blood and its components and hands on skills involved in phlebotomy and special collecting and processing. These skills also include discussing the aspects of both laboratory skills requiring quality assurance and specimen handling, including blood draws, urine collection, wound, throat, stool, and other bodily fluids specimen collection. Phlebotomist are being required to perform procedures involving verifying records, preparing specimens for the microbiology department, point of care testing, and running controls on instruments in various departments within the lab. You will work in teams practicing on one another.
