Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES
Welcome to the eLearning Academy. The eLearning Academy is a program through Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES where students in component school districts can take virtual courses to earn high school credit. Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES currently offers virtual courses to component school districts that are interested in providing additional educational opportunities to their students. In return, students can earn high school credit by taking virtual courses.
The High School Equivalency Program is a test-when-ready program for 16-20 year olds. Students are enrolled through their high school guidance office and attend either a morning or afternoon session. Once a student has met the minimum attendance requirements and demonstrated readiness for the High School Equivalency exam, he or she is referred to the next scheduled exam. Students are instructed in all areas relevant to the High School Equivalency exam. These include reading comprehension in a variety of subject areas, math, and writing. Classes consist of group instruction as well as individualized lessons. Most of the materials used in class are specifically geared to preparation for the High School Equivalency exam. In addition, life skills, college searches, and career exploration are incorporated into the curriculum.
The Certified Nursing Assistant certification program at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES trains students to work in healthcare facilities as nursing assistants. The program consists of 130 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience. Students will learn skills such as taking vital signs, transferring patients, and assisting with daily activities.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) class offered by Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is a great opportunity for students in Central New York to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The course covers topics such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and medical terminology. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam and become a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
