In this 280-hour program, you will learn to assist the pharmacist in mixing prescriptions, maintaining patient records, purchasing and inventory management, billing and reimbursement, and more. Topics include pharmacology for technicians, pharmacy law and regulations, sterile and non-sterile compounding, quality assurance, and medication safety. Included in the program is a 120-hour externship where the student will receive hands-on training in a local pharmacy under the direction of a pharmacist. Students are prepared to sit for PTCE and ExCPT national certification exams. This program fulfills the education requirements of the California Board of Pharmacy (Business and Professions Code Section 4202) for pharmacy technician licensure. Textbooks and externship scrubs purchased separately.
