The Transfer Counseling Center provides academic counseling and transitional programs and services designed to ensure your transfer to a 4-year university is smooth and seamless. Those programs and services include: Educational Plans (class planning), assistance with applications to 4-year universities, Transfer Admissions Guarantees (TAGs) with UCs, Admissions Department appointments with Chico State, Cross-Enrollment Program with Chico State, transfer-specific workshops, meetings with 4-year university representatives, IGETC Certification, ADT graduation plans.
The Associate of Science Degree in HVACR will serve our community by providing diverse experiential learning opportunities in a progressive curriculum, using modern technology, industry cooperation, and alumni support to prepare students for a productive future in the HVACR Industry. This program is designed for students to earn small industry recognized certificates, NATE certifications, a certificate of achievement, and an A.S. degree in HVACR. The curriculum is designed to produce students with internships and hands-on experiences with industry-aligned skills to install, commission, operate, and maintain residential, commercial, and industrial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) systems.
For skilled individuals employment opportunities are virtually unlimited. HVACR jobs are open in both residential and commercial industries throughout California as well as the nation and the world. There is also increased pressure throughout the skilled labor sectors due to the retirement of baby boomers. As of 2015, the industry was an $81.1 billion market, It’s expected to grow by 5.5% each year through 2020. Refrigeration is expected to be a major player in this growth. In addition, we are now in a period of booming construction with people increasingly requiring facilities where they can work, live, and play comfortably in diverse climates.

The Certificate of Achievement in Medical Coding is for students for who want to pursue a career as medical coders and/or billers. The medical coder and biller are responsible for reviewing patient health records, assigning appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures performed by the healthcare provider, and submitting claims for reimbursement and collecting payments.
The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
The department also recommends taking Medical Terminology (ALH 104), The Critical Six Soft Skills in the Professional Healthcare Environment (ALH 6), Introduction to Human Biology (BIOL 2), and Survey of Human Systems (BIOL 10) for more well-rounded success in the field.
The Licensed Vocational Nursing program is a state-approved vocational program which provides the curriculum necessary for an individual to qualify for the state board examination for Licensure as a vocational nurse. The curriculum includes prerequisite courses and the equivalent of three academic semesters of nursing theory and supervised clinical experience.
The primary role of the licensed vocational nurse is to provide bedside nursing in a variety of clinical settings. The student will study common medical-surgical conditions, their origin, prevention and treatment, emphasizing the related nursing care. To help the student provide “individualized” nursing care, other courses provide basic psychology and sociology concepts relevant to the development, motivation and reactions of people healthy and ill.

Career related fields for the MOA include Medical Office Receptionist, Medical Office Assistant, Front Office Representative, Medical Records Administrative Assistant, Insurance Verification Specialist, and Medical Intake Specialist. This certificate of achievement can be completed in one year.
