This course will teach students the role and responsibilities of a Certified Medication Aide. Students will learn the legal and ethical aspects of administering medications, the different forms of medications, preparation of medications, and the recording and observation of medication administration. Students will also learn to read a prescription and mathematically calculate the correct drug dosages for administration. Students will review the Kansas Adult Care Home Regulations and how they apply to a CMA. Students are prepared during the theory/ lab phase of the course to perform medication administration by various routes to residents in long-term care facilities, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Students participate in a minimum of twenty-five hours of hands-on experience in a long term care setting and simulated lab to assure students’ eligibility for the Kansas Medication Aide certification examination. The course is designed to enable students to gain employment upon graduation as a CMA and to make informed decisions on career objectives through education. This course meets all federal and state requirements for education and training of a Certified Medication Aide.
This 20 hour Home Health Aide course is designed to provide Certified Nurse Aides with additional training and knowledge to provide safe, effective, and supportive personal care assistance in the privacy and comfort of an individual client’s home setting. Upon successful completion of this course and state exam, your CNA license would include Home Health Aide. With this certification you are able to work with Hospice and Home Health Agencies.
CMAs are eligible for employment for 24 months following the date the certificate is issued. They must maintain current eligibility for employment as a CNA to work as a CMA. To remain eligible to work as a CMA, the CMA must complete 10 hours of continuing education as specified in Kansas Health Occupations Credentialing Regulations. The successful completion of the continuing education will allow the CMA to be eligible to work an additional two years. The CMA must take a continuing education course within every two year period to remain eligible to work. If the certificate lapses, the CMA has a 1 year period (from the expiration date of the certificate) in which to take a continuing education course to renew the certificate. The CMA may not work if the certificate has expired. After the certificate has been expired 1 year, the CMA must successfully pass the 75-hour course and test to become eligible for employment. This course meets Kansas continuing education requirements for CMA's and will cover: New Classes of Drugs and New Drugs, New Uses of Drugs, New Methods of Administering Drugs, Alternative Treatments Such as Herbs, Acupuncture, and Interaction With Traditional Drugs, Safety and Administration of Drugs, Documentation.

Bethel House Training Institute’s Certified Nursing Assistant program prepares you for an entry-level position as a nursing assistant. In this program you will learn how to provide basic patient care under the direction of a nursing staff in residential care facilities. Nursing assistant job duties may include: taking patient vital signs, helping with basic needs such as bathing or dressing, serving meals, assisting with medical procedures and providing compassionate, one-on-one care to patients on a daily basis.
In this class, the students will learn how to draw blood from patients and blood donors. You will learn basic technique, how to explain the procedures being performed, and how to care for and run medical equipment. Phlebotomists work in a variety of settings—from hospitals and doctor’s offices to specialty labs and clinics. Upon completion of this class, students will be eligible to sit for the certified phlebotomy technician exam.
This 45-hour course of Bethel House training Institute in Wichita, Kansas is designed for those wishing to provide administrative oversight for an assisted living or home plus facility.
