The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, heat, and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years. Please Note* You must attend ALL components for the class you are enrolled in. If you leave early, you will not pass the class or receive certifications.
The Accelerated Phlebotomy Technician program consists of 48 hours of lecture and lab. This certificate-level program meets twice a week for four-hour sessions for a total of six weeks. The accelerated format provides the student who already has medical training or phlebotomy experience with additional skills and practice to help increase their skillset. The Accelerated Phlebotomy Technician program provides instruction in the skills needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostics testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, clinical safety, and mastering difficult draws. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate competence in the theoretical comprehension of phlebotomy techniques, demonstrate accepted professional communication and interpersonal skills, discuss phlebotomy in relation to the healthcare setting; identify the anatomic structure and function of the body systems in relation to services performed by a phlebotomist, a practice accepted procedures for transporting, processing specimens, and practice infection control following expanded precaution protocol. Students are provided with an NHA certification exam to become certified and recognized as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. Students enrolled in this program have the option of enrolling in the LPD 101: Leadership and Professional Development course at no additional tuition cost. This course can assist students in professionalism, business etiquette, and creating a professional portfolio.

The EKG Technician program consists of 48 hours of lecture and lab hours. This certificate-level based program meets twice a week for four-hour sessions for a total of six weeks. This program will include practice and background information on the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, cardiac disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, Holter monitor, electrocardiography, stress testing, and telemetry monitoring. Students will get hands-on lab practice with operating an Electrocardiogram, 12- lead electrode placement, vital signs collection, and bloodborne pathogen training. This course includes American Red Cross BLS CPR training and certification. Students are provided with a National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam to become nationally certified and recognized as a Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (CET). Students enrolled in this program have the option of enrolling in the LPD 101: Leadership and Professional Development course at no additional tuition cost.
