An Emergency Medical Technician determines the nature and extent of their patient’s condition and looks for any pre-existing conditions that might exist. Following local protocol and medical direction, the Emergency Medical Technician will give appropriate emergency medical care and transport the patient when needed. This medical care includes managing respiratory, cardiac, trauma, and many medical emergencies. To assist the student with reaching this goal, this program combines general education with program specific lecture, lab, and clinical courses.

Upon successful completion of the Basic Emergency Medical Technician certificate program, the student will be eligible to participate in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician examination.
