Becoming a Network and Computer Systems Administrator

As a Network and Computer Systems Administrator, students will gain fundamental skills required for a successful IT career. The program focuses on the following core areas:

  • PC Repair and Maintenance: Learn the fundamentals of PC repair and maintenance, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing hardware issues. This training ensures that students can effectively deploy networks and address software issues while ensuring the smooth operation of basic business hardware.

  • PC and Network Security: Gain essential knowledge and skills in network and cybersecurity. Students will learn the principles of network security, perform network threat analysis, configure secure network systems, and understand relevant policies and regulations.

  • Networking Fundamentals: Develop a strong foundation in network setup, maintenance, and repair. Students will learn various networking concepts and implement them appropriately. They will also acquire skills in implementing network policies to ensure stability and business continuity. The program includes training in proper cabling and physical network storage techniques.

  • CompTIA Stackable Certifications: The program prepares students for certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+. These certifications enhance their credentials and increase their employability. Students can also pursue the CompTIA IT Operations Specialist and CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist credentials, which are valuable for career advancement in the CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Pathway.

  • Operating System Fundamentals: Acquire skills to confidently work with the Microsoft Operating System. Students will learn essential tasks such as managing devices, performing operating system maintenance, configuring user accounts, and installing software.

Certification Options

  • The program prepares students for certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+. Earning these certifications, allow our students to also earn the CompTIA IT Operations Specialist and CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist certifications in the CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Pathway. Students can also earn their Cisco Certified Network Associate credentials in this program.

Associate's Degree Options

This program has a degree option where students can take 6 more courses remotely at the end of the certificate program and earn an Associate of Applied Science in Network and Computer Systems Administration. The courses* are as follows.

  • Critical Thinking or Introduction to Psychology
  • Business Communication
  • Business Math
  • Introduction to Business
  • Principles of Management or Leadership
  • American Government 
  • Nevada Constitution (Nevada students only)

*Asher College is willing to accept transfer credits from accredited colleges for courses that qualify.
