A paramedic is the highest trained level of pre-hospital care. Paramedics have the training to administer ECGs, start IVs, administer medications, as well as utilizing advanced airway devices. The paramedic has a high level of training in patient assessment and determining treatment modalities. The Paramedic program is an intense learning experience to prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, or Emergency Medical Responder levels.
