In order to provide the highest level of quality for transportation facilities, most state agencies along with AASHTO, FHWA and NAPA have adopted quality assurance specifications. Part of this process includes using qualified personnel for sampling and testing. According to federal regulations "all sampling and testing data to be used in acceptance decision or the IA program will be executed by qualified sampling and testing personnel" (23 CRF 637). The Density Inspector Certification Program is intended to provide qualification of personnel performing density testing on asphalt pavements in New York State.
This welding certification is to qualify welders to work on NYSDOT projects. The certification is not for employment with the NYSDOT. Certification requires maintaining a work record. This certification requires that a qualified person sign off every six months that documents welding work has been conducted. A lapse in a work record will require recertification testing. This certification is based upon performance testing of the weld coupons by x-ray inspection by the NYSDOT in Albany. Welders may be tested using the Manual Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process.

Diagnostic medical sonography is a two-year AAS degree program preparing qualified students to become health care professionals who use high-frequency sound waves to produce anatomical images for diagnostic purposes. The program coordinates on-campus didactic and laboratory classes and clinical experiences at area hospitals, to which students are responsible for their own transportation.
Clinical education is assigned to provide experiences consistent with the student's level of achievement in different hospital and outpatient environments. Through clinical assignments, students have opportunities to work with the most modern and specialized equipment available and knowledgeable staff with a wealth of experience in imaging. These assignments include a 12-week (40 hours per week) summer session that is required and provides valuable experience in developing clinical competency skills. In addition, nine weeks of full-time clinical will be assigned in both fall and spring semesters of the second year of the program. Students will require housing close enough to their clinical placements to travel there on a daily basis.
