This program prepares students to provide quality care to residents in nursing care facilities. Students will learn various aspects of residents’ care, such as Body Mechanics, Assistance in Daily Living, Medical/Surgical Asepsis, and Nutrition.
Clinical Training is completed at our partner facilities - Pacific Heights Transitional Care, The Avenues Transitional Care and Linda Mar Rehabilitation Center.
Upon completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be able to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Exam that will lead to the California Nursing Assistant Certification. The CA Certification Exam is held in our campus.
Job Assistance is provided to all students for employment in long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and agencies.
Length of Program: 2-3 months
NCNA - Daly City runs a well-known Certified Nursing Assistant training program. They are located in Daly City, which is in the San Francisco metro area. The school focuses on offering flexibility for students; NCNA - Daly City offers classes that are part-online and part in-person. The class is relatively short at 8 to 13 weeks long.

City College Of San Francisco runs a reputable Certified Nursing Assistant training program. CCSF Hayes's class takes place in San Francisco and is only one semester long. After completion of the program, you'll be able to have your Home Health Aide certificate as well.
University Of San Francisco Immaculate Conception Academy's Certified Nursing Assistant class is dedicated to helping students obtain their certification as soon as possible, so they can start working immediately. ICA is conveniently located for those who live or work in San Francisco. The class is a collaboration between the all-girls' school of Immaculate Conception Academy and the University of San Francisco.
Located in the heart of the Mission District, Arriba Juntos is dedicated to training healthcare workers who are compassionate. In 2016 they had a 91% on-time completion rate. In 2017 they reported a 95% on-time graduation rate and 87% employment rate. 90%+ passed the exam across both years. Their program is 166 hours long.
Unitek College - Fremont Campus (Unitek) offers a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class in San Francisco, CA. This class provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a CNA, including patient care, communication, and safety. Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the California State CNA certification exam.
Pass Institute's CNA program is unique in that the first part of class is completely online and asynchronous, meaning you can complete it on your own schedule. This portion is 60 hours long. The second part is hands on clinical training (Windsor Manor Concord or Stonebrook Healthcare Center) which is 100 hours long. Students must attend all clinical days.
Contra Costa College offers a Nurse Assistant Program, which is a 7-unit course approved by the California Department of Public Health. The entire program takes one semester (16 weeks), perfect for those who are looking to take a CNA course at an accredited university. You must complete a CPR course before applying. Students are accepted first-come, first-served. Only the first 15 qualified students will be accepted.
Vasco Career College’s CNA class is 160 hours long. They report a 100% on-time graduation rate 2019-2020. In 2019 they reported a 90% employment rate, and in 2020 they reported a 100% employment rate. VCC also reports a 100% exam pass rate—particularly impressive given how difficult CA’s CNA exam is!
Opportunity Junction’s CNA program is 12 weeks long. It takes place Weekdays (Monday through Friday), 8:30AM - 3:00PM. The school prides itself on small cohort sizes. They also provide hot lunches, mental health support, and job placement assistance.
Mt. Diablo Unified School District runs a CNA program, not just for high school students. The program is 3 months long and is run in partnership with Opportunity Junction. This program requires an orientation that takes 2 days (one day online, one day in-person on campus).
