Graduating from an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school: Aside from graduating from an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School, completing the Joint Service Aviation Maintenance Technician Certification Council training course for military personnel can also get you certified.
Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations: It's also important to be familiar with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, specifically part 65, subpart D, Mechanics. By knowing this, you are aware of your authorizations, privileges, and responsibilities!
Pass the three knowledge tests: To obtain the Aviation Mechanic certificate, you must pass the knowledge (written), oral, and practical tests. These tests are based on several aviation maintenance technician handbooks and testing standards. Remember, the knowledge tests must be taken before the oral and practical tests!
Once you have successfully completed all the said requirements, you will be awarded the Aviation Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and/or Powerplant Ratings!
