The fees for the EKG national certification exam is the responsibility of the student. In the same manner, the fees for the Surgical Tech exam (see fees schedule) is NOT included in the tuition. Students apply for the national certification exams and pay themselves at the completion of the course. Dignity College of Healthcare is an institution approved to offer courses in the United states, hence our certificate of completion is valid for work even without going for the outside exam certification. Surgical technologists are healthcare professionals who work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel in an operating room to deliver optimal patient care. Surgical technologists are essential members of the surgical team engaging in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative job duties that include preparing the operating room,  setting up surgical equipment,  instruments, and supplies.  During a surgical procedure, these professionals are responsible for assessing instruments, fluids and supplies, anticipating the surgeon's needs and monitoring and assessing room conditions. Surgical Technologists are responsible for maintaining the sterile field and ensuring that all members of the surgical team adhere to aseptic technique. 

The CCRI Surgical Technology program is a 43 credit, twelve month full time certificate program which combines classroom instruction, simulation lab experiences and supervised clinical practice in a hospital environment.   Students will complete a minimum of 500 practicum hours, and will scrub in on a minimum of 120 surgical procedures.
