The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification program provided by Southern Maine Community College - South Portland Campus prepares individuals for a career in emergency medical services. This program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care in a competent and compassionate manner. Upon completion of this program, individuals will have the skills to assess and treat patients in emergency situations, as well as transport them safely to a medical facility. Students will learn about various aspects of emergency medicine, including anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, trauma care, and medical emergencies. The program also includes hands-on training in clinical and field settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam and pursue a career as an EMT.
