Tech Valley High School invites current 6th and 7th grade students to apply for a week-long summer camp that replicates its unique Project-Based Learning model. Over the course of the week, students will engage in innovative collaborative projects around a real-world problem faced by one of our business partners. Students will work in groups to create solutions and present them on the last day of camp. The daily program is based out of Tech Valley High School and will include off-site fieldwork opportunities for students as they explore innovation in our region. The Technology Week focuses on emerging technologies in the area and the Biomedical Week explores topics related to health sciences.
New Visions students gain valuable insight into career options from a real-world perspective. A 1-year, honors-level program, New Visions turns area businesses, healthcare facilities, and government buildings into classrooms for highly motivated, academically successful high school seniors.
For 3.5 hours each day, New Visions students learn and explore through mentoring, internships, interactions with professionals, group discussion, and creative projects, as well as more traditional methods. New Visions students earn four academic credits including one credit each for English and social studies and two electives credits. They also may earn college credit, and the program is a proven asset on transcripts and college applications.
The Welding certification program at Questar III - Rensselaer-Columbia-Greene BOCES is designed to provide students with industry-standard welding skills and techniques for a successful career in welding. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training to enable students to learn the theory and concepts of welding, use welding equipment, and complete welding projects.
