This course is ideal for anyone providing care for expectant moms and want to learn about the Fetal Monitoring Process. While not required, some fetal monitoring experience is suggested. Participants will learn the skills needed to assess intrauterine fetal wellbeing through electronic Fetal Monitoring. Participants will discuss: The role of the nurse while monitoring patients for fetal well-being. Assessing important data needed to conduct appropriate fetal monitoring. NICHD terminology Factors that determine the use of internal vs external monitoring. Differences between Fetal Monitoring Categories Characteristics of the Fetal Heart Rate Pattern: Baseline Fetal Heart Rate Fetal Hear Rate Variability Periodic vs Episodic Changes Participants will also practice and discuss assessing several Case Studies and Fetal Heart Rate strips.
