A medical assistant is a multi-skilled allied health care professional that specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory health care setting. Medical assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and assist a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. They typically work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices. Common duties of a medical assistant include administrative and clinical tasks like: Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure, Answering phone calls and questions, Assisting providers with exams and procedures, Administering injections or medications, Working in the electronic health record (EHR), Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures, Taking patient vital signs.
Pacific Healthcare Training has a mission to provide up to date, state of the art phlebotomy training. Our objective is to educate students to be well-trained, highly qualified competent employees who can use their skills to benefit patients and employers. We do not have an entrance exam or require any prior medical experience to take our course. Our program is 64 hour didactic hands-on training where students will learn basic venapuncture with both a straight needle and butterfly needle, tourniquet tying, capillary puncture, order of draw, and lab processing. Pacific Healthcare Training students do not do a clinical externship outside of the classroom. We are an extremely hands-on program allowing students ample opportunity to get their blood draws done in class.

This training provides 60 hours of classroom and skills lab instructions and 28 hours of clinical practicum (88 hours total). Classroom instruction consists of lecture, group activities, and class discussion. The skills lab provides an opportunity for students to learn, practice, and demonstrate Nursing Assistant2 Acute Care Skills. Clinical practicum is held in the hospital setting. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to enter the acute care workforce to assist licensed nursing personnel.
The Nursing Assistant training program prepares students to assist with patient care and function as an effective member of the healthcare team. The program consists of 65 hours of classroom and lab instruction and 40 hours of hands on, supervised clinical training in a long term nursing facility. Students will be actively involved in the classroom with lectures, videos, guest speakers, and skills lab time. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible to sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant examination.
The Certificate in Limited X-Ray program is designed to prepare the graduate for an entry-level position in a physician’s office or medical clinic. The program emphasizes the development of clinical skills to train students for a career as a Limited X-Ray Machine Operator or X-Ray Technician.

The Nursing Assistant program offers 100 hours of classroom and lab instruction, plus 75 hours of hands-on, supervised clinical training at a long-term nursing facility.
Upon successful completion, you'll be eligible to sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant examination.
