The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is a sequential series of classes focusing on English conversation, pronunciation, listening, reading, writing, grammar, common idioms, American culture and basic civics. Each student is given a placement exam before being assigned to one of the six levels OAS offers. Some courses are available in hybrid/hyflex format. Oxnard Adult School is situated in Oxnard, California, and provides a variety of educational programs for adults. Most notably, the school offers its students the opportunity to gain a Certified Nursing Assistant certification, which is overseen by Sylvia Trueba, the director of the school. The school also provides classes for ESL learners, GED preparation and other career-oriented classes to help adults reach their educational goals.
