This is a hands-on clinical training program that also includes an introduction to administrative components, allowing the student to develop into a versatile employee able to multi-task in today's busy medical office setting. Some of the topics within the 780-hour curriculum are medical terminology, assisting with minor office surgeries, vital signs, EKG, aseptic techniques and infection control, medical documentation, law and ethics of health care, phlebotomy, introduction to Microsoft Windows and Word, introduction to medical office management, and billing and coding.
Our HVAC/R program is a comprehensive, technical and hands-on training program covering all critical aspects of the HVAC/R field. This is an opportunity to understand refrigeration and cooling systems, electrical circuitry and electronic solid state control applications and electric, gas and oil-fired heat and heat pumps. Learn to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair both commercial and residential systems. Students work on fully operational cooling and heating systems in our well-equipped HVAC/R lab.
Students will be introduced to the field of phlebotomy in physicians’ offices, hospitals, and other health-related facilities. Students will learn phlebotomy skills, including but not limited to the following: specimen collections, specimen processing and handling, laboratory operations (safety, quality control, etc.), and anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system. Students will also be introduced to infection control/universal precautions and a career development module. Anatomically correct arms are used in class for practice, but 50 sticks, 10 capillary sticks on live individuals are required to qualify for certification. Students will be offered 60 hours of theory and practice and will be required to complete 80 hours of clinical externship with a healthcare provider. (These hours will be outside of the listed classroom hours.) Health clearance documents will be required once accepted into the class. No medical experience needed. Textbook and testing fees are additional charges.
This program is approved by the New York State Education Department for licensure and certification purposes. This hands-on program provides an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in the dental profession to begin a rewarding career. Students receive training in a well-equipped dental classroom/lab. Coursework includes: sciences in dentistry, emergency care, infection control, preventive dentistry, clinical assisting and procedures, dental radiology, and 200 hours of internship experience in a dental office.
Learn necessary medical and technological skills for entry-level medical billing and coding. The curriculum includes training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical office administration and medical billing and coding, utilizing the new ICD-10-CM as well as the current ICD-9-CM, as well as computers and more general administrative skills. Class will also focus on electronic medical health care record management utilizing all scripts and other electronic health record programs.
