Program Overview:

Laurel’s Cardiovascular Technology program aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue entry-level positions in the cardiovascular healthcare industry. Students will receive comprehensive training in non-invasive testing techniques such as EKG (ECG) and Cardiac Sonography/Echo procedures. These tests yield valuable data for cardiac evaluation. Graduates are prepared to perform diagnostic, administrative, and clinical duties under the supervision of a physician. Clinical responsibilities may include recording vital signs and medical histories, patient preparation for examination, blood drawing, and medication administration. The curriculum covers a range of subjects including Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Phlebotomy, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Medical Law & Ethics, Cardiac Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, and Non-invasive Cardiology. Additionally, students undergo three clinical courses to practice hands-on skills essential for assisting physicians.

Credential Awarded:

Upon completion of the program, graduates receive a diploma.

Certifications Available:

The program prepares students to sit for the national certification examinations to become a Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) and Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) RCS235 through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Additionally, eligible graduates with one year of full-time work in cardiac ultrasound and evidence of performing 600 cardiac ultrasound studies may register for the RCS235 Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification exam through CCI.
