Program Overview:

Laurel’s Early Childhood Education program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level positions in the childcare and early education industry. This program prepares students to work with young children in various settings such as preschools, day care centers, or child development centers. The curriculum covers child growth and development, instructional techniques, working with families, managing childcare centers, and addressing the needs of children with special requirements. Students learn about teaching methods, literacy and math development, health and safety, child guidance, and community involvement. Graduates are prepared for roles including Teacher’s Aide/Assistant, Paraprofessional, Day Care Owner, Infant/Toddler Teacher, Child Care Provider, and more.

Credential Awarded:

Successful graduates receive an occupational Specialized Associate Degree

Program Advisory Committee:

To ensure the program's relevance and alignment with industry standards, Laurel holds annual Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings with individuals familiar with occupational requirements. Changes to the program are made in consultation with relevant authorities.

Laurel is dedicated to providing career-focused education and professional certifications for individuals seeking employment in various careers in response to the needs of the regional employer community. We are proudly accredited by Accrediting Commission of Careers Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Accreditation is a form of quality control, ensuring that institutions of higher education satisfy certain standards. To ensure we always meet those standards, Laurel is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of License Schools. Laurel is permitted to offer programs through the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education; Laurel Technical Institute is Registered with the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (No. 08-07-1870T (Hermitage) No. 14-07-2048T (Meadville)). Laurel is also approved to participate in NC-Sara through the PA Department of Education.
