In accordance with our mission and our vision, Heritage Care, Inc. provides a variety of Maryland-certified healthcare and public health training programs. Our goal is to help improve health outcomes as well as social determinants of health for underserved members of our community. Heritage Care Inc, is certified by the state of Maryland Department of Health to offer a community health worker (CHW) program. Our organization works with local workforce development organizations and colleges to provide this program to our community members free of cost through grant funding. CHWs are widely accepted as key stakeholders in our healthcare system and have a major impact on public health. A CHW is a public health professional that works with clients from underserved communities. CHWs work in many different capacities and provide a wide variety of services to the community. Some of these services include: Informal Healthcare Counseling, Assistance Accessing Local Healthcare Resources, Outreach and Advocacy, Community Capacity Building. CHWs can also specialize in different areas such as Geriatrics, Supporting Victims of Trauma, Diabetes Prevention, Promoting the Health of Formerly Incarcerated People, Mental Health, and Sexual and Reproductive Health. The Heritage Care Inc. CHW training program includes 155 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of practicum instruction. Classes are offered in person and our schedule for classes is flexible.

Nursing Assistant Training Programs

Heritage Care, Inc. provides a variety of state-certified nurse training programs to create new opportunities in healthcare for both our employees and members of the local community. These classes are available to individuals who wish to gain a new certification or to fulfill continuing education credit hours to improve their credentials. Heritage Care, Inc. is also affiliated with many colleges and universities. It provides local nursing and therapy students the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience and to learn from our professionals while fulfilling their school's internship requirements.

CNA/GNA Training Program

Heritage Care Inc. offers a Maryland Board of Nursing-certified nursing assistant training program. The course duration is 108 hours and we offer either a day class from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, or an evening class from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. The course is in-person at our Hyattsville location. The duration of the day course is 3 weeks and the duration of the night course is 7.5 weeks.

ESL Classes / Clases de Inglés

In accordance with our mission, our English as a Second Language (ESL) Program offers English classes to our staff and to the local community at low-cost with tuition waivers available. We strive to build the confidence of our students while also providing the tools that they need for professional success. Our ESL Program consists of six levels, from basic to advanced, where students learn how to interact in every-day-life situations and develop their oral, reading and writing skills, necessary to pursue better job opportunities. Heritage Care currently offers evening classes from 6:00 to 7:30, Monday through Thursday.
