Program Overview:

The Computer Technologies Department at Great Basin College is dedicated to providing comprehensive computer technology education to a diverse and dynamic population. With a focus on meeting the current and future needs of the community, the department offers training, retraining, and job enhancement opportunities along with national certifications in various office technologies. The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Web Development is designed to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in the field of web development.

Upon completing this degree program, students will have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their chosen career paths. The program focuses on the following key learning outcomes:

• Efficient and Ethical Use of Computers: Graduates will be proficient in using computers and relevant software in the workplace in an efficient and ethical manner.
• Computer Operating Systems: Students will effectively utilize computer operating systems to carry out tasks in web development.
• Web Page Design and Maintenance: Graduates will be able to build and maintain well-designed, interactive web pages and sites using HTML, JavaScript, and Dream Weaver elements.
• Database Management: Students will learn to build and maintain databases, as well as gather user information for web-based applications.
• Entry-Level Employment and Further Education: Graduates will be equipped to seek entry-level employment in the field of web development and can also apply for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Information Technology program for further education.
