Construction Trades

Florida Technical College has been offering education and training for trades careers for more than 40 years. In our electrical, welding, HVAC/R with PLC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration with PLC diploma) programs, you will learn the skills necessary to safely and accurately diagnose situations, compute the necessary calculations, and learn the skills needed for employment.

Construction Management –  Bachelor’s Degree

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management program prepares the students to develop a career as Construction Managers. Students will be able to manage, supervise, direct, and inspect construction sites and other facilities. Students will examine the importance of safety on site, prevention, personnel management, and investigation of accidents in diverse facilities. Students will analyze and debate the building construction laws and regulations. In addition, they will demonstrate knowledge of effective communication, project management, scheduling, and logistics. Students are eligible for certification of completion for: OSHA 10 Safety Training Course, and LEED Green Associate. A total of 184-215 quarter credits  is required and divided into 16 courses upper level, 12/15 courses concentration tracks and 8 courses general education. Employment opportunities include Construction Manager, Project Manager, and Project Supervisor.

Admission Requirements

  • A student must first successfully graduate from a Construction Trades (HVAC, Welding, Electrical or other) diploma or degree program, from either NUC-FTC or another accredited institution, as a prerequisite for enrolling into the Construction Management Bachelor program. External transcripts must be evaluated by Academic Affairs to determine transfer of credits accepted into the program. Florida Technical College - Tampa

Florida Technical College was founded in 1982 to provide post-secondary training in specialized business fields. The main campus in Orlando opened in 1982, followed by the Lakeland campus in 1990, and the DeLand campus in 1997. Classes began at the Kissimmee, Pembroke Pines, and Tampa campuses in 2011, and the South Miami campus opened in 2015.

After 40 years of serving Florida’s educational needs, Florida-Technical College has merged with NUC University which until now had been a sister Institution. In addition, NUC University brought two other colleges under its umbrella, The Digital Animation & Visual Effects (DAVE) School in Florida and IBC Technical Division in Puerto Rico, for a combined total of 28 campuses and 20,000 students in both Puerto Rico and Florida.

Accreditation, Licenses, Affiliations and Approvals

NUC University (NUC) is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org. NUC’s NUC University – IBC Technical Division (NUC-IBC), NUC University – Florida Technical College (NUC-FTC), and The Digital Animation & Visual Effects School (The DAVE School) are included in this accreditation. NUC’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on 2019 was to reaffirm accreditation. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The Baking and Pastry and Culinary Arts Diploma programs at the Kissimmee campus are programmatically accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF).
