The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Technical Certificate (T.C.) is a limited access program that prepares graduates to function as entry-level Emergency Medical Technicians. The program utilizes classroom instruction, hands-on skills labs and field experiences to train students to become emergency medical responders who respond to a variety of medical and trauma situations. Upon completion of the program, graduates are awarded a technical certificate and are eligible to apply to sit for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification exam to qualify for certification as a Florida EMT. Graduates of the technical certificate program may elect to continue for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) (2251) (A.S.) degree.

Through medical assistant specialist instruction and hands-on training, students will be prepared to work alongside licensed health care practitioners in various health care settings.
The Correctional Officer Career Certificate (C.C.) provides students criminal justice training**** and education to prepare them to manage inmates and perform operational duties in the areas of care, custody and control within the correctional institution. Through the Criminal Justice Training Center, students learn everything needed to become a corrections officer, from inmate intake, the use of firearms and defensive maneuvers, to constitutional law, communication equipment and crisis intervention.
The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration Career Certificate (C.C.) prepares students for a rewarding career in the all-encompassing HVAC/R industry. The program provides optimal access to high quality, affordable, and relevant, career training.

The Dental Assisting Career Certificate (C.C.) program provides students with dental assisting classes that cover the theoretical, practical and clinical skills necessary to receive an entry-level position in a dental office. Dental assisting training includes dental basic sciences, dental radiographic techniques, dental materials, sterilization and infection control, chair side assisting, office management, dental specialties and expanded functions.
The Commercial Vehicle Driving (CVD) Career Certificate (C.C.) program consists of four 80-hour courses totaling 320 hours. The first two-week course introduces students to the commercial driving industry. Students receive an overview to prepare for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FDHSMV) written examination required to obtain a Class A CMV Driver’s Permit. Subjects include combination vehicle operation and inspection, air brake component identification and an introduction to the various regulations governing commercial vehicle driving.
The second two-week course is a continuation of the first and includes instruction on vehicle design, inspection and preventative maintenance. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) Hours of Service, logbooks, map reading and trip planning are core elements of this two-week course. Students are also introduced to tractor-trailer operation through the use of a high-fidelity driving simulator.
Students then enter into a four-week block of instruction focused on fundamental and advanced driving skills, as well as vehicle inspection procedures. Students learn vehicle control skills including straight line and offset backing, parallel and alley docking. Students develop needed driving skills and vehicle control by means of urban, rural and expressway driving on public roadways throughout Northeast Florida. At the conclusion of the 320-hour program, a FDHSMV Third Party Tester tests students.
What does it take to be a health care provider? Among other things, it takes compassion, patience, knowledge and skills. FSCJ offers comprehensive training on campus by medical professionals with hands-on clinical experience in a variety of hospitals and medical centers throughout the area.
From hospitals and physicians’ offices to nursing homes and home care, the Practical Nursing Career Certificate (C.C.) will provide you with many career options. You’ll learn basic nursing and clinical skills as well as medical terminology, computer literacy and medication administration. In addition, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure examination to become a licensed practical nurse.
