Role & Responsibilities

A Phlebotomy Technician, primarily known as a blood collector, is responsible for performing laboratory draws and collecting blood samples. They facilitate the safe, accurate, and reliable collection and transportation of specimens, including non-venous blood, urine, tissues, and sputum for clinical laboratory analyses.

Program Highlights

Through our comprehensive program, students will:

  • Gain a robust understanding of standard clinical medical laboratory procedures
  • Receive education on diverse areas such as specimen collection, urinalysis, basic office bacteriology, hematology, and chemistry
  • Understand medical laboratory safety protocols, standard precautionary measures, and quality control
  • Learn practical skills such as venipuncture and capillary punctures
  • Become adept at handling various safety and clinical equipment

Dallas Career Institute

Dallas Career Institute is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas and is led by director Joe Onyema. The school provides a variety of healthcare programs, such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and Patient Care Technician. Furthermore, it also offers CPR/Basic Life Support certified courses and a Qualified Medication Aide program.
