This 120 clock-hour program meets the requirements of Illinois Nursing Reform Act of 1979. Completion of the program leads to certification of compliance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). This program prepares students into their roles and responsibilities as nurse assistants in both the clinical and at home setting. The course includes a coordinated lecture/discussions, supervised skills laboratory and clinical practice. Students acquire the basic knowledge and technical skills needed to provide basic nursing care to residents in long-term care facilities as well as patients in hospitals, private homes, or other health care facilities. Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Examination administered by Southern Illinois University of Carbondale.
