Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program - Ottawa Area ISD

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician program at Ottawa Area ISD, housed at Careerline Tech Center, offers a flexible and comprehensive pathway to a rewarding career in healthcare. This state-approved program provides students with essential skills through an asynchronous online format, enhanced by practical simulation experience via a lab kit. Graduates are well-prepared for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam, equipping them with the credentials needed for immediate entry into the phlebotomy field and contributing to a vital aspect of patient care.

  • Duration: Up to 12 months to complete
  • Schedule: Asynchronously online with simulation experience through a lab kit for assignments.
  • Prerequisites: Enjoy helping others, ability to work as part of a team, and possessing basic skills such as medical terminology, CPR and First Aid, employability skills, and understanding phlebotomy principles. Students will also complete multiple blood draws on training models.
  • Accreditations: State-approved program, prepares students for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), including an NHA exam voucher.
  • Career Outcomes: Prepares students for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification, enabling entry into phlebotomy roles.

In person Patient Care Technician Classes

This program will prepare students in basic patient care, Electrocardiograms (EKG, ECG), phlebotomy skills, and assisting physicians/nurses with bedside procedures. Students taking this class should be interested in providing healthcare services that can help identify, evaluate, prevent, and/or treat diseases. Students will also learn medical terminology, safety in the workplace, how to take and record patient's vital signs, and the use of computers in healthcare. Students will also learn CPR and first aid.  Eligible students can earn a certification as a Patient Care Technician.

Hybrid Certified Nursing Assistant Classes

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class offered by Careerline Tech Center (CTC) in Muskegon, MI provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become a certified nursing assistant.
