Program Details:
The Certificate of Applied Study in Practical Nursing is a one-year program whose graduates meet the academic requirements to apply for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. Practical nurses (LPN/LVN) provide basic patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and other healthcare providers. BridgeValley’s state-of-art simulation laboratory and clinical experiences promote hands-on learning for practical nursing students. Practical nursing courses allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to practice in various patient care settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health, and provider offices.
Practical Nursing Program graduates can continue their education by obtaining an Associate of Applied Science through BridgeValley’s LPN Advanced Placement Program.

EKG Technicians perform ECG tests that record and monitor electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. An EKG Technician administers diagnostic cardiac tests to patients pre-surgery or who may have cardiac problems. The tests help detect and monitor medical conditions such as heart disease, arrhythmias, pericarditis, and angina.

Medical Coding is a two-semester certificate program designed to prepare students for employment as a medical coder or medical insurance specialist in physician’s office, hospital coding and billing offices, outpatient departments, and healthcare insurance companies. Students will develop an expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS medical coding and medical billing procedures. As part of the Medical Coding Program, students will join the AAPC, and prepare to sit for the National AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam at the end of the program. Students are also eligible to sit for the AHIMA CCS certification.
In the final semester, the student will be eligible to go to a healthcare site for training. In addition, the student will complete the AAPC Practicode online training.
