About

The course is designed to safely enable the Licensed Vocational Nurse with a California License to initiate and maintain intravenous therapy in a clinical setting. The course covers IV therapy and blood withdrawal. It will prepare students to do the following: recognize complications and reactions, identify the role of IV therapy, differentiate actions, dosages, side effects, nursing implications, and much more. The course is approved by the California Board of Licensed Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians which requires 27 hours of didactic theory (which will be completed via Zoom) and 9 hours of hands-on clinical experience. Each student must complete a minimum of three individually supervised successful venipunctures and three individually supervised skin punctures (capillary blood withdrawal) on live human subjects to pass the course. Come have fun and learn at Alpha First Medical Academy’s state-of-the-art classroom with registered nurses who start IVs and do blood withdrawals every day! Their experience and knowledge set our school apart and you’ll leave with the confidence and knowledge of a pro!
