Program Overview:

The  Associate’s degree in Medical Billing & Coding program aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in the medical billing and coding field. Students in this program learn to compile, process, and maintain medical bills for various medical facilities, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment. The curriculum covers medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical law & ethics, and office procedures. Specialized courses focus on coding, electronic medical records, and computerized medical billing. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Billing Clerk, Billing Coordinator, and Coder in physician’s offices and other medical settings.

Successful graduates receive an occupational Specialized Associate Degree

Program Advisory Committee:

To ensure the program's relevance and alignment with industry standards, Laurel holds annual Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings with individuals familiar with occupational requirements. Changes to the program are made in consultation with relevant authorities.
